GACKT Official blog update. Translation below:

I finished up all my work
and completed my training.
After taking a shower, I started preparing to depart.
I quickly arranged my luggage.

I decided to go to London
to meet my friend.
There’s a common saying that there’s no time like the present,
and I often feel like such a phrase is meant for me.

It’s been like this since a long time ago but
I realised that even now,
I often still decide on my destination there and then when I get to the airport.

I’ve grown up quite a bit to put my things together like this
and only bring a change of clothes.
In the past, I would bring only my passport and wallet to the airport,
and decide to play it by ear to just buy clothes at the destination.

Even so, it’s become convenient.
Now, no matter which country you go to, as long as you have a smartphone,
even if I wander around,
I can move around without getting too lost.

In the past, it was normal
to keep checking with passers-by.

I arrived at KL’s airport, got my ticket,
and took the train within the terminal.
I only take trains like this in the airport,
This, too, is valuable time for me
since I have a train phobia.

When I went into the plane,
the sun has already completely set.
I read a book in the plane,
and in the blink of an eye, I was in London.

I arrived in London without sleeping much.
It’s still in the middle of the night too,
so there was almost no one
in Heathrow’s terminal.

I went straight to the hotel from there but
it was too early and I couldn’t check in.

I decided to go look for a cafe nearby,
so I changed my clothes and went walking around in the city.
Anyway, it’s cold.

When I was here the last time,
it was unusually cold
despite that it was right in the middle of summer,
so maybe I was prepared for this,
and that’s why I wasn’t really surprised.

The city’s colours changed bit by bit.
While walking in the streets,
I found a public phone that I haven’t seen in a long time.
It’s mysterious how even a public phone booth
can become picturesque only in London.

Even so, it’s strange.
Despite that public phones still exist,
post boxes can’t be seen anywhere at all.
Times are changing at a rapid speed.

Even in Japan, people don’t really
use the post anymore.
It feels like the habit of writing new year’s greeting cards
has pretty much disappeared now.

I still remember how
an ex-girlfriend used to rush to write a mountain load of new year’s greeting cards at year end but
I wonder if the younger generation still get chased after such work now.

I noticed that a street near the hotel
had Berluti and Vivian there.
To think that they can be found here… for some reason, I was happy.

Berluti is a brand I like.
The products here are almost like art.
Simply looking at them is enjoyable.

I roamed the streets quite a bit.
When I looked up, the clock said 7 a.m..
Even so, there weren’t many people out in the city.

I finally found a cafe and went in.
Warm.
Well then…
I guess I’ll go visit my friend’s house after a short break.

Come to think of it,
I wonder how I’ll get there…
I didn’t ask for directions.
Just where is their home…
Is it okay?
Like this.
