A week has passed since filming began for the Monday 9 PM drama.

Normally, Monday 9 PM dramas are associated with love stories, but this time it's a completely different approach.

Honestly, you have no idea what the filming will be like before it starts.

Even if you've acted with the same actors before, if the camera crew and production staff change, the filming content and the atmosphere on set change drastically.

The final product will be completely different.

Ultimately, the part that actors are involved in is only a small part of the whole.

I understand that that part is important, but I'm keenly aware that a work is created through the work and relationships of so many people.

As always, the first day started with a mix of nervousness and feeling things out.

This time too, I was observing the movements of the staff in various sections, trying to gauge the atmosphere on set.

The first thing that surprised me was how incredibly fast the entire film crew moved.

The camera team, the lighting team…

The sheer dedication of each section is palpable.

Television dramas typically use two cameras simultaneously, sometimes even four.

As everyone knows, compared to movies, television dramas often lack depth and a sense of realism, right?

This is partly due to the lenses and equipment used.

More importantly, it's heavily influenced by filming time and budget.

Both actors and staff often face the dilemma of wishing they had more equipment or shooting techniques.

In movies, special equipment, commonly known as a "tokki," is frequently used, but it's almost never seen in television dramas.

Even if it is used, it's usually limited to climactic episodes.

Of course, it allows for shots with a grand scale, but using it significantly increases both time and budget.

On my first day on this set, the tokki was being used as if it were completely normal.

Many film crew members who have worked on Academy Award-winning films are involved in various sections of this project, and perhaps because of this, their dedication to visual production is extraordinary.

The moment I saw the small monitor on set, I couldn't help but exclaim, "It's so different..."

The depth and realism of the images are beautiful.

Even on such a small screen, it felt like I was watching a scene from a movie.

Of course, the interplay between the actors is a crucial element in determining the pace of the film, that goes without saying.

That will become increasingly apparent as we go along.

I was amazed by the performance of Mirai Shida, who plays the heroine and with whom I'm co-starring for the first time in this film.

The tempo of the dialogue, the speed of her responses, and the way she creates the atmosphere in each scene—

Everything about her is superb.

She immediately responded to the director's instructions on set.

Her timing of lines and the way she conveys emotions are exquisite, naturally leading the pace of the acting on set.

As expected, having been at the forefront of the industry since childhood and appearing in dramas for nine consecutive seasons, his expressiveness and stability are outstanding.

This is a great learning experience for me.
It's a blessing to be able to work with an actor who possesses so many qualities I lack.

I can't announce the names of the other actors yet, but the cast is impressive, and the atmosphere on set is great.

I think this is something to look forward to.

Society has changed considerably with the times, and if even a little bit of a blue-collar, working-class vibe comes through, it's often met with ridicule like, "That's so Showa era!" or "That's outdated!"

Is that really true?

Filming sets are now heavily regulated, and there are many things that can't be done compared to the past.

It's also true that the number of skilled, craftsman-like technicians has decreased.

However, this team's blue-collar vibe and the incredibly fast pace are...

It's refreshing to watch.

We sometimes film until almost midnight, and then have to wake up at 5 AM the next morning.

Even so, every member of the crew takes pride in shooting as many scenes as possible.

That kind of atmosphere permeates the entire set.

Wow, I absolutely love this atmosphere.

This kind of set is truly irresistible.

There are many moments when I feel like I'm experiencing a luxury.

It's quite hard, but I feel like we'll be able to create something interesting.
