"Black Trick: The Lawyer Who Manipulates the Verdict"

"Black Trick: The Lawyer Who Manipulates the Verdict" – GACKT and the star-studded cast make a surprise appearance in Shibuya!
A production announcement event was held for the "Getsu-9" (Monday 9 PM) drama series *Black Trick: The Lawyer Who Manipulates the Verdict*, starring GACKT. In addition to GACKT, cast members Mirai Shida, Fuju Kamio, Junki Tozuka, and Kazuki Kitamura took the stage, with Fuji TV announcer Toshihiro Ito serving as the moderator.
This series is an exhilarating, original legal entertainment drama featuring a brilliant lawyer—a "genius at fabrication"—who uses lies as a weapon and stops at nothing to uncover the truth and save his clients.
The five cast members made a surprise appearance on a special stage at the SHIBUYA109 store. As cheers erupted from the crowd in Shibuya upon their sudden arrival, they took the stage with smiles. GACKT, who plays the protagonist Naoto Uramawashi, offered a cool greeting while showing consideration for the audience: "Hello, everyone. Thank you for coming out in this heat." When announcer Ito asked about his take on the production, GACKT said, "I'm trying to act as naturally as possible. Mirai [Shida] sets the tone on set, so I just follow her lead." Shida humbly laughed off the comment, saying, "Oh, not at all!" Next, Mirai Shida—who plays Yukari Aso, an elite lawyer who detests lies and loopholes—responded to GACKT’s earlier remarks with a smile, saying, "I’m the one following GACKT’s lead." She mentioned how GACKT often incorporates ad-libs on set, adding, "I want to emulate his attitude of always trying to make the work better"—a comment that prompted a humble reaction from GACKT himself.
Fuju Kamio, who plays Kota Habu—an assistant at the Hakari Architectural Design Office—looked around in surprise and remarked, "It’s been a while since I was in Shibuya. I never get to stand on a stage like this here." He described the filming atmosphere as "cheerful and fun," adding that he was looking forward to the scenes shot at the office.
Junki Totsuka, who plays Shuhei Sabayama—a first-class architect at the same firm—greeted everyone energetically with a loud "Hello! I look forward to working with you all!" He then spoke enthusiastically, saying, "GACKT in a 'Getsu-9' [prime-time Monday night] drama! It is *guaranteed* to be interesting." Kamio playfully teased him, saying, "You sound like you're giving a speech," which drew laughter from those around them. Noting that this was his first time acting alongside GACKT, Totsuka heaped praise on the star: "GACKT has an incredible aura and presence. He is so sincere about his role and the project; he really inspires me to keep pushing forward."
Kazuki Kitamura, who plays Yoshichika Furuse—a prominent politician with deep public trust and high popularity—jokingly remarked, "I’m playing a big-shot politician," while bowing to the audience on his right, left, and center. He revealed that he was actually meeting the rest of the cast for the first time that day, adding, "I'm nervous," which made everyone laugh. At the same time, he explained, "It’s precisely because I take a step back and view things objectively that I can appreciate the brilliance of the script and the quality of the camerawork," before adding with a laugh, "I might just end up all alone without meeting a single person until the final episode (laughs)."
At the production announcement, since the protagonist Naoto Uramashi-Washizu is a "genius at fabrication," the cast members were asked what "genius" label—"Genius of [Blank]"—they would give themselves. GACKT declared himself a "Genius of killing time—life is just about killing time," though he noted his recent busy schedule, muttering, "I have no free time lately, so I want to go back to having free time." Shida described herself as a "Genius of going home at the speed of light," revealing a surprising side of herself by noting, "I’m fast at changing clothes and taking off my makeup, too." Kamio called himself a "Genius of keeping things for a long time," explaining, "I still wear clothes I bought when I was twenty and keep using the same shoes," adding that he usually only discards items when someone else tells him to. Totsuka commented that he was a "Genius of rushing around," a remark that made the cast burst into laughter. "Even though I prepare properly the day before, I always end up in a mad rush right before leaving in the morning. I’m rushing around in this role, too," he laughed. When Kamio chimed in supportively, saying, "From my perspective, he’s reliable because he handles whatever comes up—even the rushing around is part of what makes him dependable," Totsuka replied, "I’m actually just panicking (laughs)," sparking great amusement among the group. Keep an eye out for the comical back-and-forth between the two in the drama itself. Kitamura described himself as a "Genius of complaining"; although he had originally wanted to choose a different label, it seems his agency staff suggested "Genius of complaining" because he tends to find fault with various things...
Once the round of self-proclaimed titles concluded, Announcer Ito—who had been told by GACKT that there was something he absolutely had to share—prompted him to speak. GACKT then sang "Happy Birthday" and presented a bouquet of flowers, saying, "Kitamura-san, happy birthday!" Kitamura, whose birthday falls on July 17 (Friday), expressed his delight at the unexpected surprise, saying, "I certainly can't complain about this! (Laughs) I’ll keep smiling and give it my all until we wrap up filming. I hope everyone will cheer us on." GACKT also shared his joy, commenting, "I’ve been looking forward to meeting you for a long time. Today is a wonderful day."
Finally, lead actor GACKT delivered a heartfelt message about the series: "This is a rather unusual drama.
