I'll start working on my 4th film. The best combination of the Hamano group, Furuichi Yasushi has been entrusted with the cinematography. He is renowned for winning as Best Director in the Foreign Film category at the London Film festival with the movie "Sennenn no Itohime".
He was the director of photography in my 1st work, "Sakanakami" and in the 2nd work, the documentary film "TETON - Yama no Koe", my third work "Karanukan" (to be released throughout Japan on 2018/3/10) has GACKT as leading actor, me as director, and Ooshiro Gaku as director of photography. In my 4th work "COUNTRY DREAMER" Namiko Higa from Okinawa was selected as the heroine. It will be produced with a limited number of people and with a completely neo-realistic technique. It's like this movie was born with her strong will. She even worked hard for the founding of the production cost.
It will be a movie with the same presence as "La strada" by Fellini.

Karanukan’s important characters
Yuichi Kimura that plays Todo, president of an advertisement production company in Tokyo, Aoyama, which is managing the hero Oyama Hikari (GACKT), and his subordinates Inoshita Yoshi that plays Suzuki, Kimisawa Yuki that plays Matsuo.
Here is the staff of the company that creates the advertisement design plan for global scale partner companies worries while seeing how Oyama changed in Okinawa looking at the photo data that have been sent.
With a computerized work environment and a kitchen attached, the office is quite refreshing.

Karanukan’s important characters

Nobutaka Oomine is a pottery artist full of energy to draw out the power of natural materials from Okinawan pottery. Living deep in the mountains, he built his Noborigama (*Ascending kiln) himself and makes good use the local soil. He transmits a natural, and delicate good taste.
Nobutaka who plays Yoshiaki Oomine, gently shows and teaches his way of life to Oyama Hikaru (GACKT) that from his everyday life in Tokyo, suddenly, finds himself involved in Okinawa’s nature, faith and love. He performed the deep kindness of the potter. This is something that cannot be conveyed without an expert potter.

2.
Karanukan’s important characters
The stage is an advertising production company dealing with the top class Tokyo, Aoyama world. Yuichi Kimura thoroughly played with his delicate and deep acting skills the president of an agency specializing in advertising design such as the world's top furniture, food and fashion.
He is outstandingly good at making the scrips lines his own’s and making his places.
His skills in performing how worrisome is the metamorphose of Oyama Hikaru, played by GACKT, that slowly grows to admire Okinawa, to the point of changing his lifestyle is moving.

3.
Oyama Hikaru, played by GACKT, is a photographer that lives an intense life in Tokyo, and is going out with the top model played by Issou Maki. Issou will be surprised by the pictures of the incredible nature of Okinawa and that of a beautiful woman, and will secretly follow Hikaru...

1.
Kato Tokiko is also drawn to Ooyama Hikaru, played by GACKT, who loves the heroine Maumi who is 20 years younger, but with the age difference, Okinawa's unique culture is learnt, including its textiles and pottery which it is linked to and built on.
Her mother, played by Kumiko Akiyoshi, is a weaver master too, but she also goes to practice to Miyagi house who perform circular agriculture in Yaeyama as well as running a textile business. The one playing Miyagi Miko is Kato Tokiko. Together with Miyagi Tsunehiko (played by Yui Masayuki) she teaches the importance of circular agriculture. The beautiful tune of the theme song ‘Become love’ written by Yasuhiro Hamano was composed by Kato.
Also look forward Marlene’s passionate singing.

2.
Karanukan’s important characters
Kumiko Akiyoshi was superimposed on the heroin of the novel I wrote around the end of the 90’, Sakanakami. But the heroin of the movie Sakanakami around whom revolve an old angler, played by me, a white wolf and an Huchen (*Sakhalin taimen, also known as the Japanese huchen, an East Asian species of fish in the salmon family) doesn’t make her appearance here. In Karanukan’s cast she appears as the heroin Maumi’s mother, as well as a textiles artisan that weaves cloths similar to the Hagoromo of a Tenyo (*feathered kimonos of tennin, spiritual beings found in Japanese Buddhism). I talked with her directly and she listened to my strong wish.
GACKT came to me during the shooting test saying ‘Director! Is it ok if I really end up crying?’. This is how wonderful was Akiyoshi’s performance.

3.
Karanukan’s important characters
Kimuka Suzuka the leading actress that appeared with me in the Okinawa film festival (A wild as well pure beautiful woman not even 20 years old) was selected among around 400 applicants that participated in the auditions.
The beauty and physical ability of a body trained with rhythmic gymnastics will be amazingly dynamic in the movie.
She thoroughly played the role of a mysterious being that goes back and forth from the world of a young girl and that of a deity.
Although she is a new face in the movie field, she is for example challenging the musical field as well, and her popularity is spreading.
She accomplished the important task of appearing in her first movie as GACKT’s partner with her splendid presence.
