GACKT as “The Fiend with Twenty Faces” in a new anime 「I am looking forward to it」

Singer GACKT announced on the 3rd that he will be voicing the character The Fiend with Twenty Faces (Kaijin Nijuu Mensou) in the anime『TRICKSTER -Edogawa Ranpo「Shounen Tanteidan」yori-』which will be broadcasted in October on TOKYO MX’s Yomiuri TV’s BS11. It has been decided that the opening theme song will be GACKT’s「Kimi Dake no Boku de Iru Kara」(from the album『LAST MOON』).

The anime is an original work that as adapted from Edogawa Ranpo’s「Shounen Tanteidan」and brought from a historical time setting into a time setting in the near future. It will be a large-scale project that will involve the anime being adapted into a manga, stageplay, and live-action movie.

The time period is in the 2030. The Shounen Tanteidan (Detective Boys) have been assembled under the mysterious detective Kogorou Akechi. Their actions have led to the resolution of various small and large incidents. One day, team member Kensuke Hanasaki meets a mysterious boy named Yoshio Kobayashi. Kobayashi, who has an undying body because of an “unidentified fog,” wishes his own death and refuses contact with others. Hanasaki takes an interest in Kobayashi and invites him to join the Boys’ Detective Team. The encounter eventually leads them to the connection between the criminal nicknamed “Fiend with Twenty Faces (Kaijin Nijuu Mensou)” and Kogorou Akechi. The fate of the two begins to move.

The Fiend with Twenty Faces is an extraordinary phantasmagoric criminal that was created by Edogawa Ranpo. In this anime as well, he is an international criminal whose nationality, gender, age are all unknown, and works behind the scenes disguised as anyone young or old, male or female, as the Shounen Tanteidan’s enemy. The mysterious yet bewitching design by PEACH-PIT put together with GACKT’s seductive voice, makes this new Fiend with Twenty Faces a highlight of this work.

GACKT commented「With Edogawa Ranpo’s『Shounen Tanteidan』being adapted to be set in Tokyo in the near future for the stage play, how will the young Kobayashi be like?
