– What is the Kenshin Festival

The「Kenshin Festival」is a festival that has been held since 1962 in honor of the valor and outstanding virtues of Joetsu City’s hero, Lord Uesugi Kenshin.
Warriors dressed in armor, and armed with weapons will carry out the gallant Kick-Off Procession. Packed with attractions, there will be strategic points in the route for special performances or battle cries, along with a Children’s Warrior Kick-Off Procession.
In addition, moving around with the Uesugi Army and the Takeda Army, the Re-enactment of the Kawanakajima Battle progresses like a cinematic story with strategies and battle patterns which creates a compelling realism.
There are also other full-scale events which you will not catch anywhere else, and have enraptured visitors over the years.
