Q. Have you had any experience in poker before this?

This is my first.

Q. What do you think of it after having actually played it?

Initially, it was all Greek to me, but after I tried playing it, I’ve come to think that it has depth.

Q. Please tell us how you felt when you received the offer to appear on this program.

I read the email at home but I was like, “Eh? GACKT-san? That GACKT-san?” and I couldn’t understand, so I hastily called management to check with them, and they told me, “It’s that GACKT-san” and the moment I heard it I couldn’t stop my tears. I was so happy that crouched down and cried.

Q. That wasn’t shown when you first met GACKT-san when filming began though?

I couldn’t continuously look at GACKT-san’s face any more so I looked down.

Q. That might’ve affected your poker play too, didn’t it?

I was nervous about being watched by GACKT-san.

Q. What do you think of GACKT-san after having actually met him?

I thought, ‘He really exists in this world!’. And he was very nice. When I catch a fleeting glimpse of gentleness in his expression I think, ‘what a nice person’.

Q. How did you feel when you heard that your opponent is Kukki-san?

I was like, “You’re kidding me!”. Maybe it’s because I don’t quite get his jokes when I see Kukki-san on tv, but I did wonder what kind of person he is since he seems so eccentric. I don’t know what kind of play he’d be going with too, so I decided to see how it goes when I’m actually here.

Q. While the cameras are rolling, how did you feel having GACKT-san and Kukki-san in front of you?

It’s super scary. Simply having GACKT-san and Kukki-san in front of me is so pressurising that I feel like running away.

Q. It’s been about a year since this program started and you’re the first person from the voice acting world to make an appearance. Things are going well for you on Anime Channel too, and with all of that, what are your feelings about this since you’re carrying the pride of your industry in this battle?

Since this is the first time a voice actor is appearing, I think it would be nice if people who don’t know much about us will begin to have an interest in anime and voice acting. To achieve that, I definitely won’t lose.

Q. Will you play poker after this?

I think I want to continue even after this. Since I’ve gone through the trouble to learn how to play, I want to get to know it better and become even better at this.

Q. You went up against GACKT-san in an intro quiz of his own songs but how was it?

That was too difficult… But I don’t think that I’ll ever get to play an intro quiz with him again so it was a really great experience.

I’ve never played it on such a fancy table before.

Q. What is it about poker that makes it enjoyable or thrilling?

The fact that you can win by bluffing and pushing through despite having a weak hand is nice. There’s the enjoyability of detecting a lie and also that of setting one up, isn’t there?

Q. Do you use bluffs when playing poker in your private time?

Bluffing is basic. Since my life is like a bluff too (smiles).

Q. Please tell us how you felt when you received the offer to appear on this program.

I thought it was really out of the blue. When it arrived and I looked at it, I wondered if it’s for real.

Q. A characteristic of this program is having GACKT-san sit next to you and commentate so what do you think of that?

It’s easy to play and it’s fun. He’d read the players for us too, but there are areas where we can go our own way too, so there’s a balance that makes it fun.

Q. Does this make you want to play poker in future?

I’ve been to casinos, but I was so afraid of poker that I couldn’t play it, so I’d probably want to try in the future.

Q. As the representative of Ookami-kun world, what does Takahashi-san think of the new season of Ookami-kun?

I’ve watched it 3 times, and I don’t quite know if the male member who is my close friend, Eito, is lost or troubled over Maru-chan and Airi-chan, but as I’m watching I somehow, at some point in time, came to enjoy it. Also, I dropped out so I don’t want Eito to lose either. Even if he does, I hope that he’d be brought back through the revival system.

Q. What experience have you had with poker?

This is a complete first for me.

Q. Have you never played it on apps or something like that before?

When it was confirmed that I will be on this program, I heard that there was an app called POKER×POKER and I tried playing it. Actually playing poker on a table is a first for me. Since I’ve never played poker with my friends either.

Q. Where do you think that fun in poker is?

When I see the two cards in my hand for the first time, and when I’m playing around with the opponent, those times are when its exciting. However, playing it for the first time today, even though I’m nervous, GACKT-san kindly teaches me whether or not the cameras are rolling, so it was easier than I expected. GACKT-san’s teasing is also really funny.

Q. Please tell us how you felt when you heard who your opponent would be.

When I heard that it was ex-NMB48 member, current Yoshimotozaka46 member, Takano-san from the idol world, I wondered if I was going to be okay. I’ve never spoken to her properly before too, and since she’s a lady who’s much older than me, there’s a lot of unease.

Q. Do you feel the pressure of being the representative of Ookami-kun world to take part in this?

Instead of nervous, it’s more like a huge sense of responsibility that I have been the one chosen to be the representative out of everyone in this season and past seasons of the Ookami-kun series.

Q. Please share with us your enthusiasm for this tournament.

There have only been 2 people who have beaten the pros thus far. And at 18, I am the youngest person to take part in this program thus far. I want to be the youngest champion at 18 and be the 3rd legendary person to defeat a pro. It would be amazing if I can accomplish this so that’s what I’m aiming for. That’s the only thing I can see.

Q. Have you played poker before this?

I’m a complete newbie. I’ve never tried my hand at anything classified as gambling. Somehow, when I was practising, the only thing I could do was remember the roles.

Q. Having actually tried poker, what do you think is an enjoyable part of it?

I’m easy to trick, and I’m bad at bluffing people, and my expressions easily show on my face, so I thought that this wasn’t for me, but when I actually tried it, I’d look at a person’s expression and think, “Perhaps men will think like this”, and so on, and it was fun to explore that. It’s simple and fun.

Q. What do you think of this program’s style of having GACKT-san commentating next to you?

It allows me to learn about poker while playing it, and I don’t know if it is a good or bad meaning, but I was able to forget about the cameras’ existence and just play.

Q. Do you want to play poker in your private time after this?

I definitely want to. First, I’ll try starting through the app, then if I go to a casino, I think I’ll definitely play it. However, when that happens it’ll cost money, so I don’t think I can play like I did today (smiles).

Q. Please tell us how you felt when you heard who your opponent was going to be.

I thought that it would be someone who is more mature and has more life experience than me, but instead, it’s the other way around. Furthermore, he’s someone much younger than me. However, since we're both novices it was easy to play.

I originally thought that my personality isn’t suited for gambling activities, but with GACKT-san here too, I think it would be good if my personality and my attitude towards work and love can change through this time’s poker.

GACKT (below, G): I’ve read Master Maya Mineo’s original before, so when I heard that Fumi-chan will be playing Dannoura Momomi, I thought, ‘I didn’t see that coming’. ── Where does this movie stand in both of your careers?

N: It’s not particularly difficult in my career, and I’d be glad if people who watch it would come to think that Saitama is a nice place. Including director Takeuchi’s particularities, the movie has the good parts of Japanese film along with that part of Western films that forcibly brings to life things that have no place in reality, and it’s turned out to be a very interesting movie.
