For me, a car is
more than just a means of getting from A to B.
It’s a partner that has walked alongside me through a particular chapter of my life.
At one such turning point,
I decided to part with one of my cars for charity—
a Trans Am.
It has an engine displacement of nearly 6,000cc.
I completely redesigned the interior,
a project that took an entire year to complete.
I also upgraded the suspension
and gave it a wide-body conversion.
I don’t think many people go to such lengths
to modify a car intended for daily use.
I still think the interior—
at least for its time—is pretty cool.
I removed almost all the buttons from the dashboard,
giving the whole space a streamlined, fluid look.
I moved all the gauges to the center,
and even modified the gear-shifting mechanism
so it could be operated with just a single finger.
That’s how much heart and soul I poured into that car.
When the person who won it at auction
eventually put it up for sale,
I even considered buying it back.
But seeing it in the hands of someone else now—
someone who clearly cherishes it—
makes me truly happy.
I want to express my heartfelt gratitude
to the person who has taken on this car
and continues to look after it so well.
I’ve heard some say that this vacation rental
“might not appeal to women,”
but I personally think it has a great atmosphere.
I’d even love to stay there myself sometime.
In any case,
thank you—truly.
I hope that this place,
just like the car,
continues to be loved for a long time to come.
ボクにとってクルマは、
単なる移動手段じゃない。その時代を共に歩んだパートナーだ。
そのひとつの区切りに、
チャリティーに出したクルマがある。
トランザムというクルマだ。排気量は6000cc近く。
内装はすべて新たに設計し、
1年かけて作り上げた。足回りも強化し、
ワイドボディーに変更した。
普段使いのクルマを
ここまで作り変える人も、
そうそういないと思うんだが。内装も、当時のものとしては
かなりイケてると思う。
パネルからボタンをほとんどなくし、
全体を流線型に。メーター類はすべてセンターに集めた。
ギアチェンジも、
指一本でできるように改造した。まあ、それだけ手をかけたクルマだ。
オークションで落札した方が
売りに出していた時には、
買い戻そうかとも思った。でも、こうして別の方の手に渡り、
今も大切にされている姿を見ると、
やっぱり嬉しい。このクルマを受け継いで、
大切にしてくれていることに、
心から感謝したい。この民泊が，
「女性ウケしない作り」
なんて声もあったようだが、
ボクはいい雰囲気だと思った。一度、泊まりに行ってみたいくらいだ。
