GACKT Official X Update. Translation below

Recently, I’ve been getting a lot of advice from people my age.
This is a long post, but I hope it will be helpful to those struggling with the same issues.

Here’s how to update your thinking to enrich your life.

First,
Our generation has statistically clear strengths and weaknesses.

I want you to understand this correctly.

Our generation’s strengths are:

[Resilient]
[Able to endure long-term battles]
[Not overconfident about reality]
[Able to act without joining the crowd]

On the other hand,
our generational weaknesses are also clear.

[Tend to be slow to act]
[Hit the brakes based on predictions]
[Remain silent because they dislike the cost of explaining]

What our generation needs to succeed in life is not to abandon caution, but to change how we use it.

And to enrich our lives,
We need to understand our strengths and weaknesses while also reconsidering the direction of our efforts.

These are the two wrong directions of effort we tend to aim for.

[Competing at the same speed as young people]
[Trying to be at the forefront of trends]

This is disadvantageous.

It will only waste energy and make it difficult to win.

Instead, here’s a realistic approach we should aim for:

[Taking a position where you can take the lead]
[Creating a structure that can function even without the praise of others]
[Aiming to be in a state where you won’t lose unless you quit]

The definition of success isn’t standing out or being praised, but being in a position where you can control those around you.

What our generation needs
is the ability to determine “where we should be” rather than “what to do.”

Withdraw from highly competitive areas and “attack” by identifying environments where you can be in the minority.

This is an overwhelmingly easier way to win.

It may sound cruel, but
we can no longer beat the younger generation with “speed, stamina, or recklessness.”

Competing here will only wear you down.

Instead, what you should strive for is the precision of making quick, emotion-free choices and decisions.

Even if you lose in quantity, you can win with precision.

Design your system with solitude in mind.
Always make final decisions alone.

What you need for true success is
[a system that can function even without anyone]
[habits that don’t rely on motivation]
[an evaluation axis that doesn’t rely on the approval of others]

If you’re ever unsure whether to take action,
just consider these criteria: “Will I regret not doing it in five years?”
“Would I be able to forgive myself for not doing it?”

You don’t need to live a flashy life.

But,
Don’t entrust your life to others.

I hope this was helpful, even if just a little.
