GACKT Official X update. Translation below
Many people are saved by “oshikatsu.”
This is probably because it gives them a sense of satisfaction and a purpose in life.
This may sound a bit off topic, but I think you’ll understand that what I’m trying to say is the same thing, so I’ll go ahead and talk about it.
I usually live by clearly defined rules for myself.
Especially when it comes to food, I clearly distinguish between “good” and “bad.”
If you continue to eat bad food, your health will be damaged, but if you eat good food, the risk of illness will decrease.
Everyone knows that without being told.
However, no matter how “good for your body” something is, it’s meaningless if your “mind” is left behind.
For example, even if you restrict your diet for health reasons,
if it causes you a lot of stress or pain, your mind will end up exhausted.
To the mind, that can become “poison.”
“Mind” and “body” are two sides of the same coin.
Rather, as I wrote, “it comes from the heart!”, the state of your mind has a great impact on your body.
The mind gets used to stimulation even more easily than the body.
Emotions and joy also become dull if repeated.
For this reason, the mind needs to be given moderate stress and stimulation, and trained to be flexible, just like the body.
The important thing is not whether you have stress or not, but whether you have a way to relieve stress.
Stress is natural, and if you can relieve stress, your mind will become stronger.
If “oshikatsu” helps you relieve stress and gives you the strength to live, then there is nothing wrong with it, and it is a worthwhile act.
The same goes for food.
If the dietary restrictions and rules are within the limits of what the mind can accept, it will be beneficial for both your health and your mind.
However, self-control that involves continuing to endure things without being convinced will have a negative effect.
The human mind is tricky. But that is also what makes humans interesting.
If you can find something that enriches your heart now, then that’s a wonderful life, and if you’re not yet satisfied, I hope you will make the effort and take the time to find something that truly brings you joy.
That is how deeply and powerfully the mind and body influence each other.
