GACKT Official X Update. Translation below

[Will YOSHIKI Appear in *Black Trick*?]

Information will likely be made public soon,
but here I’ll reveal the behind-the-scenes story
leading up to that shoot—details that
normally wouldn’t see the light of day.

Shortly after the drama series began,
YOSHIKI posted something about it.
I responded to that post,
and during our exchange,
the conversation turned to something like,
“Will YOSHIKI be appearing, too?”

It seems the higher-ups at CX (Fuji TV)
took that seriously.

One day, they consulted me.

“Um…
Regarding YOSHIKI-san…
If we were to… make an offer…
do you think he’d agree to appear?”

I replied:

“Well…
I have absolutely no idea.
Are you, by any chance,
taking that exchange literally?”

A few seconds of silence.

“Um…
If there’s a chance,
would it be okay to make an offer?”

“……”

After a moment of silence,
I thought for a bit and answered:

“You’re free to make an offer, of course,
but even if you get a ‘yes,’
you shouldn’t take it too seriously.
There’s a 95% chance he’ll cancel at the last minute.
Another 4% chance he’ll show up, but be very late.
In the worst-case scenario, he shows up the next day.
The remaining 1%?
If a miracle happens, he’ll arrive on time.
If you’re prepared for that kind of reality,
then I think it’s fine to make the offer…”

Everyone looked bewildered.

“Is that really a thing…?”
“But there was that story about him bailing on the Tokyo Dome show…”
“So that wasn’t just an urban legend…?”

Voices flew back and forth, but the conclusion was:

“We’ll give it a shot and make the offer anyway.
Since it’s a project involving GACKT-san,
he might just accept!”

And the next day…
They came to my dressing room again.

“GACKT-san…
We tried contacting YOSHIKI-san’s side…
but we can’t get through to anyone.
How do we get in touch with him?”

The look on everyone’s faces
seemed to ask:
[Does YOSHIKI actually exist?] “Alright, I’ll contact him directly right now.
Should I just ask if he has time?
Or should I explain the details?”

Silence again.
Then, everyone spoke in unison:
“GACKT-san! Please handle the whole thing!”

…The whole thing, huh?
I contacted YOSHIKI right there in front of everyone.

“Hey there, YOSHIKI. How’s it going?
You got any time the day after tomorrow?”

A reply came back in about three minutes.
“Yeah, I’m good.
But I’m dying from dinner show prep.
What’s up?”

Seeing how fast he replied,
no one believed I was actually talking to YOSHIKI.

“The higher-ups at CX want you to appear
in the final episode of *Black Trick*.
Can you spare just one hour in Japan?”

“Huh? Seriously? I can’t act, you know.
I can’t memorize lines.”

“They said it’s fine if you just appear as YOSHIKI.
The setup is that you’re Urashin-washi’s best friend.”

“I don’t really get it, but…
if the schedule works out, sure.”

“Got it. I’ll have the management teams
sort out the details from here.
Thanks a lot.”

Done.
One of the CX executives watching beside me spoke up.

“…How come…
you’re able to get in touch with him?”

Beats me.

After that,
the management teams handled the arrangements,
and a filming date was set for YOSHIKI.

Then came the day.
All the main cast members gathered for the occasion.
I told everyone:

“You shouldn’t count on YOSHIKI showing up.
It’ll be a letdown if you expect him and he doesn’t come.
If you assume he won’t come from the start,
then if he *does* show up, you’ll be like, ‘Awesome!'”

Everyone looked…
well, sort of convinced, sort of not.

The CX executives had already
prepared several “backup scripts”
for scenarios where YOSHIKI didn’t show up
or arrived late.
A perfect triple-backup plan.

And then,
finally, the word came in. “YOSHIKI is arriving in twenty minutes!”

At that moment, applause erupted on set.
“Whoa!!!”
What was going on?

The excitement was on par with
[Discovering a Tsuchinoko]
or [Mankind landing on the moon].

Everywhere you looked, there was a commotion:
“YOSHIKI is coming!!!”
“Really?”
“I think so…”

And then,
YOSHIKI actually appeared in the studio.

His first words?
“Wow… there are…
so many people here.”

Well, of course there were.
It wasn’t just about the shoot anymore;
staff members had gathered just to see
if YOSHIKI actually existed.

Staff who were never normally seen on set
had all turned out in full force.

As for what happened next—
whether the shoot actually went smoothly—
you’ll have to watch the final program.

Wow.
The phrase “living legend”
has truly become synonymous with YOSHIKI.

The bottom line is:
YOSHIKI really does exist!
And that’s a wrap.
