Mesmerized by the powder snow lit by the lights,
I took a slightly unfamiliar detour route.
And then there was a whiteout.
In the next moment,
I fell off the cliff with my mobile.
I lost consciousness along the way,
and when I woke up, I was much lower.
My mobile was stuck in deep snow another 20 meters below, unable to move.
I searched for my phone.
I found cigarettes in my breast pocket.
There were cigarettes in another pocket too.
In the end, all I found were 12 packs of cigarettes.
To be honest,
I thought it was over.
It was 5am when the hotel staff came to help.
It really was a close call.
I realized at that moment that a lack of caution, a lack of preparation,
and the complacency of thinking “it’ll be fine” all lead directly to death.
Nature is beautiful.
But at the same time,
it can easily take your life.

Don’t underestimate it.
