GACKT Official X update. Translation below
It was the morning I returned to Tokyo after filming in Osaka.
Still half asleep, I looked out the window,
and saw someone walking briskly along the rooftop of a building,
where there wasn’t even a handrail.
Convinced I was imagining things, I squinted,
and it looked like several craftsmen were preparing something.
They leaned over the edge of the building,
and then let the rope drop to the ground,
and slid down the wall like a scene from Mission: Impossible.
They showed no signs of hesitation,
and entrusted their lives to a single thin rope,
and before I knew it, my heart was warming as I watched them descend as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
Craftsmen are seriously cool.
I’ve previously researched the architectural history of Tokyo Tower and
the story of the first McDonald’s.
Both were completed on time thanks to the skill and determination of Japanese craftsmen.
These feats were only possible thanks to the skill of the craftsmen. Precision and spirit that rewrites global standards.
The level of Japanese craftsmanship
is the very foundation of this country.
Japanese craftsmen are truly amazing.
You’ve really motivated me this morning.
Thank you.
