On December 24th and 25th last year, rock band "GACKT YELLOW FRIED CHICKENz" held a live concert at Zepp Haneda in Tokyo. It is a legendary band whose vocalist is GACKT (51), who went on hiatus 12 years ago. All the guitarists and drummers were wearing masks, and only GACKT had his face revealed.

The reporter infiltrated the venue on the 25th. In front of a large audience, GACKT announced his comeback after 12 years, saying "Sorry to keep you waiting!". --Please tell us what prompted you to get the band back together.

"I decided to do YFCz (YELLOW FRIED CHICKENz), the most intense of GACKT's concept shows, while I was in the best physical condition. For this reason, I have been working on my physical strength and physique for two years. I want to deliver the best live show when I am in the best condition. I revived YFCz with the feeling that I can deliver it now.

--How do you feel after the comeback live show, and do you have any plans for future band activities?

"We plan to start activities from before the summer of 2025. I can't announce the details yet. I felt like I was going to die right after the live show, but I'm back now. My voice hasn't returned yet, though..."

--On the annual "Celebrity Rating Check! 2025 New Year's Special" (ABC TV/TV Asahi), you had two partners this time. Did you do any preparations for the recording of "Rating"?

"I'm preparing as usual. Well, I'm not preparing right before, so I'm not doing anything special just because it's right before the recording...

■"I'm not 100% confident"

--Was there anything different about this recording of "Kakuzuke" from previous recordings?

"Well, as always, I got the impression that there were a lot of twisted questions, but if you focus on the key points, I don't think they're that difficult."

--What was the most difficult question?

"I didn't have a hard time. I just opened up the information and knowledge I had inside me and compared them. Of course, I'm not 100% confident, but I just go into it with the feeling that it's probably the case."

--How did Hamada react to the results of this recording?

"I was pointing my finger and laughing out loud."

--In GACKT's autobiography "Jihoku II" (published by Kobunsha), released in the fall of 2011, he wrote that there is a lot of pressure every time he records "Kakuzuke." After the recording of "Kakuzuke" last year, you told this magazine, "I'm tired. Really. I've gone bald again. I'm currently growing my hair back." How was it this time?

"This time, it wasn't me who went bald, but my two partners, wasn't it?"

--What are your honest thoughts after the recording?

"It's finally over... that's the truth."

--Last year, we asked GACKT if he was going to create just one question for "Kakuzuke," and he said soba noodles and carbonated water. Is there a new theme you'd like to create this time?

"It's not that wide, the things I'm interested in anyway. If I had to pick one, I'd say water, coffee, tea, seaweed. I'm good at tasting these things."

If you are offered a role on the show for the New Year in 2026, would you consider appearing on Kakuzuke?

"I'm still thinking about it."
