At the Joetsu Cultural Centre on 16 June, the Festival Executive Committee (represented by Koyama Masaaki, Chairman of the Executive Committee) held a press conference for the 「90th Kenshin Festival」 which will be held on 22 and 23 August 2015 in Niigata Prefecture, Joetsu City's Kasuga District. It was announced that for this time's celebration of the 90th festival, musician GACKT will be taking paty as Uesugi Kenshin. This will be GACKT Kenshin's third consecutive appearance in a row, and 7th appearance so far.

About this time's appointment, Chairman Koyama said「I would like Uesugi Kenshin's spirit of righteousness to be conveyed to the modern generation by GACKT Kenshin」. As of now, GACKT-san's appearances are scheduled for August 23rd's 「Kick-off Procession」 at 3:30 p.m. in the afternoon and the 「Re-enactment of the Kawanakajima Battle」 at 6 to 8 p.m. The city expect to spend around 19 million yen for the increase in bus services, and the security and appearance fees related to inviting GACKT.
GACKT has appeared as Kenshin 7 times in the past 9 years, Chairman Koyama said 「（GACKT Kenshin）After this year, he will be taking a break. However, it is not the last time, it is possible that there will be appearances in subsequent years」.
The Eve of the Festival will take place on August 21st.

The Kick-Off Procession and the Re-enactment of the Kawanakajima Battle, is scheduled for August 23rd（Sun）.

As per last year, GACKT-san will be appearing as a guest.
On August 23rd （Sun）, he will lead the Uesugi Army as Lord Kenshin for the main events of the Kenshin Festivals, the Kick-Off Procession and the Re-Enactment of the Kawanakajima Battle.

- What is the Kenshin Festival
The「Kenshin Festival」is a festival that has been held since 1962 in honor of the valor and outstanding virtues of Joetsu City's hero, Lord Uesugi Kenshin.
Warriors dressed in armor, and armed with weapons will carry out the gallant Kick-Off Procession. Packed with attractions, there will be strategic points in the route for special performances or battle cries, along with a Children's Warrior Kick-Off Procession.
In addition, moving around with the Uesugi Army and the Takeda Army, the Re-enactment of the Kawanakajima Battle progresses like a cinematic story with strategies and battle patterns which creates a compelling realism.
There are also other full-scale events which you will not catch anywhere else, and have enraptured visitors over the years.
