[:en]The all-time best-of tour GACKT 20th ANNIVERSARY LIVE TOUR 2020 KHAOS which was filled with heartfelt emotions towards the fans who have walked the past 20 years with him through his solo career was held in January and February of 2020 with 20 shows in 8 locations nationwide to an audience of over 60,000 people. The tour’s final shows were supposed to be held on 28 and 29 February in Fukuoka but they were postponed because of the COVID-19 crisis.

With fans eagerly anticipating his next concert, GACKT has invited K, who performed with him at GACKT's -45th Birthday Concert- LAST SONGS in 2018, to be his tour partner for GACKT LAST SONGS 2021 feat. K tour which will have 6 shows performed at 4 locations in Japan in the 10 days around GACKT’s own birthday on 4 July. Fans will be fans with a range of hit songs and rare classics with K on piano and vocals, GACKT and K's harmonies, K's jazzy piano arrangements, plus a string section, a rarity for GACKT.

This tour was a new experiment for GACKT, and of it, he said, “I’ve honestly been thinking a lot too. This isn’t a show where we have no choice but to do it like this because of COVID-19. Rather, we constructed a live show that can only be done in this situation and came up with a show that “can be done one more time’.”

He added, “Singing together with K, conveying the emotions and feelings of that moment on that day, I want to deliver something that makes everyone who comes and watches us say, ‘This is no mistake. I’ve brought home something really good…!’”

During rehearsals, K had been changing the arrangements everyday. He said, “(Unlike the 2018 concert,) we had a lot of time to rehearse and I also enjoyed the creative process of creating each and every tiny detail of the songs with everyone during those rehearsals.”

The strings also consisted of twin cellos, which is a bit unusual, and the position of the strings on stage was not laid out in a unified manner, but rather like a GACKT band, which further enhanced the stage production.

The special setlist included not only GACKT's many famous songs, but also songs by YELLOW FRIED CHICKENz, led by GACKT, and songs by K. The twin vocals of each other's songs birthed a new chemistry.

And when they performed GACKT’s 2003 single LAST SONG, K played the piano and sang during the chorus when they last performed it in 2018, but this year, K didn’t play the piano and instead dueted with GACKT. Alongside the emotions of a broken hearted woman which had always been expressed in this song, GACKT wrote and added another set of lyrics this time to express “the feelings of the man in this story”, bringing a new approach to this song.

The expressions of the numerous hit songs changed each time together with the groove of the venue and the audience, turning into a sound unlike anything ever experienced on GACKT’s stage before.

And on 4 July, GACKT’s 48th birthday, the show from this particular tour will be held at Yokosuka Arts Theatre. Musician and vocalist of YouTuber duo Nijiirozamurai, Zuma appeared onstage bringing a cake with him to celebrate GACKT’s birthday! Just as we thought that he was here just to wish GACKT a happy birthday, it turned out that Zuma was also born on 4 July, and so, the tables turned and he received the cake from GACKT and had GACKT celebrate his birthday with him!!

GACKT has delivered entertainment in a different way and many people are looking forward to seeing him perform in this style again, so do keep an eye on his future activities.
