GACKT Official X update. Translation below
This is similar to a continuation of my last post, but
[If you have a lot of fat, you’re less likely to catch a cold]
[If you only have muscle, you’re more likely to catch a cold]
I’m sure you’ve heard this before.
This has nothing to do with whether or not you have fat.
Scientifically speaking,
Body fat is not a substance that boosts immunity.
It’s simply a storehouse of energy.
The problem is that people with more muscle mass
tend to put too much strain on themselves.
If you push yourself too hard, cortisol levels rise,
the autonomic nervous system collapses,
and mucosal immunity drops.
As a result,
you become more susceptible to catching a cold.
Conversely, the reason people with more fat seem less likely to catch a cold
isn’t because their immune systems are particularly strong,
but because they simply don’t put enough strain on their bodies on a daily basis to damage them.
In the end,
it’s not fat or muscle that determines immunity.
It’s the balance between strain and recovery.
Some overweight people often catch colds.
Some muscular people never get sick.
In other words,
if you don’t understand it well,
you’ll end up with a sickly macho man.
Everyone please be careful.
Of course,
interpretations that don’t make sense, like “it’s better not to train,”
are out of the question.
