GACKT Official X update. Translation below

I received this DM.

“My son has been playing little league baseball for six years.

He’s currently in the sixth grade and is the captain and catcher.

There was a tournament today.

My son’s turn to bat was with the bases loaded,

but he was so nervous he struck out looking.

He can hit the ball in practice, but he can’t perform to his full potential in the real thing.

As captain, he feels like he has to do it all,

and the tension is overwhelming him.

What words should I say to my son like this?”

I can’t give you a direct answer as to what to say,

but I’ll write down my thoughts.

I hope this helps, even if just a little.

There are a lot of people out there who say things like, “He’s talented,” or “He has a special talent.”

But these are just outsider comments, arbitrarily attached to people who have achieved results,

based on only that aspect.

The boy himself doesn’t even care whether he has talent or not.

In fact, he doesn’t even cling to such comments.

You’ll hit your limits time and time again,
struggling to make progress,
desperately searching for a way to overcome it,
repeated through trial and error.
You keep trying until you find even the slightest clue.

As a result,
though the pace varies from person to person, you’re simply climbing the ladder little by little.

People who have achieved great results
have simply repeated this steady process tens of thousands of times.
Talent has nothing to do with it.

And as for [nervousness],
unfortunately, nervousness never goes away.

Everyone gets nervous when it’s time to perform.
Of course, that’s true for me too.
Even at my age, I can’t get rid of nervousness.

I know this from experience,
but people who lack nervousness are more likely to cause major accidents and trouble.

The important thing is
[to develop a part of yourself that can move even when nervous].

Even if you’re nervous,
even if you’re unsure,
keep moving forward in pursuit of results.

Through this process,
little by little, you’ll be able to make the movements you imagine,
despite the tension.

If you couldn’t perform during the actual event, etch that disappointment into your heart!
It’s okay to still be shaking, just take another step!

Only you who keep trying can turn that experience into strength.

When you’re on the battlefield,
results are what’s expected.
Just because you tried hard doesn’t mean it’s OK,
and if you give up, you’ll end up with nothing.

That’s why,
you’re the one who can be happier than anyone else for the victories you’ve achieved through hard work.

[Be prepared to keep struggling and keep going]

If you have this resolve from the start,
all that’s left is to keep on going.
Don’t give up!

If you keep trying,
you’ll definitely become much stronger than you are now.

You only live once.
It’s not a bad thing to struggle until you think you can’t take it anymore!
